Aberger Software GmbH has mplemented an Internet IP-Accounting solution in the softwarepark hagenberg. A lot of companies here share a common internet connection. It is necessary to compute the individual amount of bytes transferred by every single company from and to the internet in order to distribute the total internet costs among these companies.

In order to achive this goal, the package and byte counters of the internet router are read all 15 to 120 minutes by a server. The data is inserted into a relational database. Total sums and detailled reports can be computed. This database can be queried from the intranet in big detail. The Internet providers settled down here in Hagenberg also use this database for billing their clients.
